SUZANNE DES MARAIS, GRI, ASSOCIATE BROKER
Suzanne is the daughter of architect, professor, and historic preservationist M. Robert Des Marais, and the Goddaughter of the iconic modernist architect Josef van der Kar. Her early years spent in the company of architects led to a lifelong passion for historic and modernist architecture.
Suzanne actively participates in the regional and national conversation regarding housing policy, and is frequently consulted for expert commentary on real estate market conditions. She is a past president of the District of Columbia Association of Realtors® (DCAR), a member of the Board of Directors for the National Association of Realtors®, and is 2015 President of the 9000+ member Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors®. She was honored as the 2012 DCAR Realtor® of the Year.
Although she has been quoted by The Washington Post and the BBC, she is probably best known for her weekly commentary as “hipchickindc” on the popular website PoPville.com.
Suzanne earned an undergraduate degree from Penn State and a masters degree from The George Washington University.
